OpenSea Acquires Mobile Token Trading App Rally to Build ’On-Chain Everything App’

OpenSea, the dominant NFT marketplace during the 2021-2022 boom, has acquired Rally—a mobile token trading and NFT portfolio app formerly known as Floor. The move signals OpenSea's aggressive pivot toward mobile-first crypto trading as part of its broader transformation.

Rally co-founders Chris Maddern and Christine Hall, formerly of Robinhood Crypto, will join OpenSea's executive team. The acquisition aligns with OpenSea's roadmap for 2025, which includes fungible token trading capabilities and an upcoming SEA token through the OpenSea Foundation.

The marketplace plans to launch a revamped mobile experience later this year, described as "the on-chain everything app." While NFT trading volumes have declined significantly from peak levels, OpenSea appears to be positioning itself for the next wave of mainstream crypto adoption through mobile accessibility.
